Observability Tools

Understanding what a distributed system is doing requires more than each service writing its own logs: with many services and instances processing many requests concurrently, the individual log lines only become useful once they can be attributed to a service and instance, and connected to the request chain they belong to. hexkit ships three tools for this, designed to work together and requiring almost no code in the services themselves:

Together they make it possible to filter the aggregated logs of an entire deployment down to the trail of one original request, and to inspect that request’s journey through the system as a distributed trace.
